PA Farmland
Preservation Association

Promoting Ag Land Preservation in Pennsylvania

Bylaws

The official bylaws of the Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation Association outline the organization's governing framework. This document establishes the association's name and defines its mission to champion the preservation of agricultural land across Pennsylvania through professional development, advocacy, and collaborative efforts.

The bylaws detail several key operational and structural aspects of the association. This includes outlining different tiers of membership, setting procedures for regular and special meetings, and defining the composition and election methods for its officers.  The officers of the association are the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, who are elected for two-year terms at the annual Fall meeting.

The document also specifies the structure of membership dues and outlines the benefits provided to sponsors and donors.  For instance, sponsors who contribute annually may have their name and logo featured in meeting correspondence and receive complimentary memberships and meeting registrations.

Furthermore, the bylaws contain an indemnification clause to protect its officers and employees. The process for amending the bylaws is also clearly laid out, requiring a majority vote at a meeting.  The Executive Committee, which includes the primary officers and a Member-at-large, is tasked with representing the organization on relevant issues and is responsible for reviewing the bylaws every three years to propose necessary updates to the membership.
